Edition assemblage is a socially critical, left-wing, political, and journalistic network. The common thread in all of its work is the desire to create new spaces, so as to be able to realize joint projects in new constellations; and, too, the aspiration to cover the entire spectrum of socially critical, radical left-wing politics and movements, and critical sciences
Particular emphasis is placed on antifascism; the theory, history and practice of radical left-wing politics; anti-Semitism research; theories of racism and critical whiteness studies; queer feminism and gender studies; and media criticism and critical discourse analysis.
Edition assemblage is opposed to any form of exclusion. Among other things, it addresses issues of anti-Semitism, racism, anti-sexism, and classism. Partiality for the victims of attacks, discrimination, and violence as well as the critical question »as defined by who?« are fundamental guidelines in this work.
Edition assemblage is a multilingual publisher, because Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are multilingual immigration countries. It aims to publish a diverse range of non-German-language literature that deals with issues of concern to the people who live there.
Edition assemblage publishes fiction, political nonfiction, children's books, and poetry.- Organization and Decision-making Process:
The »assemblage« consists on the one hand of the publishing house »edition assemblage« and on the other hand of an open network of projects, groups, and people, which/who are mainly active in the media sector.
Political, programmatic, and organizational questions are discussed together with the authors, activists, and supporters who meet for assemblage’s program council.
Concrete projects and topics are discussed directly with the authors and publishers concerned. The assemblage operates on the principle of a solidary economy. It relies on collectivity, cooperation, and solidarity.
The office is located in Münster, in the same building as the collective »roots of compassion«.
In addition, edition assemblage sees itself as part of the overarching autonomous project Selbstverwaltetes Zentrum Münster.
Networking meetings and workshops have so far mainly taken place in Berlin and Münster. The Program Council meets mainly in Berlin.
All publications are available in bookstores or infos or can be ordered there within 1–3 days. The books can also be ordered on the edition assemblage website.- Financing and Support:
